These boardwalks have plenty of gaps between beams and pests lurking below. The rule stands: it’s safer up high. Hop across beams and clear the lower lanes with 45-degree shots. Most generous stashes hide in the lower crates—only drop after you’ve cleaned the top line. See two springs in a row? Try a “double boost”: jump — land — instantly bounce again to reach a sneaky nook that usually hides an hourglass or a 1-up. Don’t touch the cage until you’ve swept the area to its right: just off-screen there’s often another pocket of Spots. And remember the timer: on the docks, hourglasses tend to hang over the water—hit the “ledge — rope — hourglass” line without breaking tempo.

House & shelves: use those wall brackets

Indoor stages go vertical. Look for little wall nubs—grab, short-hop up, and cut a corner to a hidden shelf. Vents give you updrafts—catch them at the peak of a jump to drift into high pockets. Floor runs aren’t worth it: nagging bugs and mice drain health and time. The cage is usually mid-level; before touching it, swing over to the left mezzanine—bonus clusters love to sit there. Once you’ve banked a solid percentage, beeline back to the cage without detours. Low on health? Don’t be greedy: grab a nearby heal and skip one search loop—losing a few Spots beats dying to the timer.

Toys & springs: height control and beach balls

Sweep the top first: that’s where the hourglasses and dense clusters sit, and it’s safer to tag the little planes from above. Cars down low are tricky—go over them and use diagonal fire. There’s almost always an “straight-up pocket” near the cage that takes three or four chained bounces. New players try to brute-force it from below—don’t. Build a staircase: side ledge — spring — ball — then into the pocket. That way you snag the last few percent without bleeding health.

Train: steam rhythm and long jumps

On the train, rhythm rules. Steam vents swing like a pendulum: learn the interval, edge up, and jump through the quiet beat. Make the long coupler jumps with a run-up, then cushion the landing with a crouch so you don’t skid off. The biggest piles aren’t on the roofs but on the side ladders of cars—short side pockets with low ceilings, so pre-fire as you enter; tight spaces punish mistakes. Before the cage, there’s almost always one missed branch—the side ladder on the car behind you. Hit that first, then rescue. If you’ve hit the percentage threshold, don’t rush: the bonus stage only unlocks after you touch the cage with the right %—so mop up the visible stuff, then go save your pal.

General nuances: percent, bonuses, passwords

Each level has two goals: percentage and the cage. The safe minimum sits along the high line; the rest you pick selectively via safe pockets. Don’t chase single pickups—think in clusters: big piles move the meter faster and safer. Grab hourglasses on a section’s “exhale”: reach the top point, take the time, then comb side branches while the timer’s fresh. Touch the cage last: better odds for a bonus stage and a chance at an extra continue if you hit a high %. Don’t waste lives: a death kills your rhythm and can knock out some collection progress. Write down level passwords right after the results screen—you can come back and clean up 100% without replaying the whole marathon. For Spot, that’s the meta: first the clear, then the cleanup.
